Triple Bids

Over the last few years it has become evident that "triple and double bids" have become a standard costing practice on many jobs.

Should it not be the photographers personal style that determines whether a creative team chooses to book a specific photographer?  Comments and insights are welcome on this thorny issue .

And if triple bidding becomes standard practice across the board, should photographers not be told who they are bidding against. We believe in transparency and a fair business ethic which would mean that agencies should be happy to share this information with us - that's the way its practiced in the rest of the 1st world !

It is standard practice in Industries such as government and even within the advertising field to be aware of who one is bidding against. Why then do so many art buyers refuse to inform us of who we are quoting against? And why are photographers with completely different styles of shooting and experience and capability levels being asked to quote against one another? Comments ?????

We encourage photographers to insist that they know who they are quoting against - let us set up a transparent , fair and moral business model .

  1. We agree that openness and transparency should be the way forward - in my discussions with agencies in this matter , there has never been given a reason why that withhold that info - its just plain weird !
